Hi,

I was just wondering if Getzlaf has been fitted for his Leaf jersey yet?

If I was Jussi Rynass I would be wondering right now why Scrivens gets all the starts.

Yes he is pencilled in to play for the Leafs but I think Rynass deserves more ice time based on how well he has played.

I cant wait for him to resign or be traded elsewhere just so I dont have to hear this fairytale anymore. Unicorns and Leprechauns are great and all, but lets not pretend they'll be coming over for dinner any time soon.

For D grit we need both Komi and Holzer (as backup)...buyout Armstrong's buyout if allowed, or Lombardi's 3.5m uninsured....if Luongo gets bought out, sign him for 3-4 years..keep both Scrivens and Reimer for this season and then make a trade decision

While I would prefer keeping Komi as a 5/6th dman or depth, it simply isnt in the teams best interest with the cap rumoured to be going down to 60mill next season.

We have other holes that need filling, like the back end and up front. Hot. Our strength, on paper, Is our D. We could use Komis 4.5 salary to improve other parts of the team.

yes, but his Leaf buyout is 1M per for the next 2 seasons and that comes off the cap...dont know if its possible to buyout a buyout under the rules though

4.5 x 2 years is a lot of money for the current product under the circumstances for sure...

Why waste a amnesty buyout for a lousy one mil per season

why does it have to be a current leaf?

in all fairness komi is the only one worth considering.. but after this year he only has one more year so is it worth it?

the leafs would be smart to make a trade for a bad contract. they could offer to take on the bad contract so long as it came with a solid young player or prospect, then buy out the contract they took. this way the leafs could use their wealth to buyout another teams bad contract and be compensated for doing so with picks, prospects, or youth

Which brings us to Lombardi at 3.5/1 uninsured...or Komi 4.5/2, or Connolly 4.75/1...

both lombardi and connolly are FA after this season tho.. by the time the buyouts happen (likely in the offseason) they wouldnt even be under contract any longer.

also, something to consider here... if gardiner is shelved for awhile and franson is locked in overseas for the entire season, the leafs D looks a lil sparse heading into the season.

phaneuf, liles, gunnarsson, komisarek, gysbers, and ?

oh i am sure there are a few.. the islanders would love to shed dipietro's contract and have a ton of youth in their system

Hence my original post about keeping Komi and Holzer...we may have to keep Komi's 4.5/2 for roster requirements/depth even with Ranger (has to sign new NHL contract) and Kotska..

His salary and Yashin's buyout are the only things keeping them at the Cap Floor, no way they buy him out. They're just praying he retires and his salary ends.

I dont think Ranger has a NHL contract tho.. pretty sure its just AHL

fraser is a possibility tho.. or they could sign some bottom pairing FA to fill the hole as well.

This is a good idea, especially since Burke's strength seems to be pulling off trades that make you go wha(frank)? He's already used this tactic without the buyout factor, using MLSE's cash to buy Franson by getting Nashville out from under Lombardi's contract.

We're assuming there are teams willing to trade a bad contract than to buy it out. Vinny has a NTC. Im sure he would rather be bought out, then resign with another team and make as much as he can than to accept a trade to a bottom feeder. There are few teams willing to give up assets instead of money, and there arent many big ticket contracts worth giving up alot just to get rid of.

yeah well they will have to consider that moving forward.. if they can get out from under that contract it may be worth their while

they can always sign a couple FAs to get back to the floor.
